I was 6 years old when I told my mother that I wanted to be a model. I was attracted to the world of gloss. It seemed like it was on another planet, an ideal, beautiful life. My mother told me that people like me would not be accepted as a model, not beautiful enough. But I objected that I would be a fashion designer. It was the 90s in the Russian province, the world was changing. In September 2016, I went to Fashion Week in New York and was amazed at how easy it is to touch the glossy world and how natural I look in it. When I returned to Russia, I decided to challenge the fashion world. Already in November, we are doing the first pre-show shooting, this is when you shoot part of your collection to send an application to the organiser of the Fashion show. The shooting took place in a hairdressing salon. My friend Darina and I were models. To relax, we drank a couple of shots. There was a bar behind the wall of the salon. We had no references, it was a pure, slightly drunk impromptu. The final part of the shooting was on the street, we went out to smoke and so this frame was born. It contains all hope, fear, emotions, an attempt to cope with nerves and a challenge. A challenge to the future that lighted somewhere ahead. The lights of Asia shone behind, it was my future, which I didn't know about yet. We don't have eyes in the picture because at that moment we were kind of still blind, in our hopes, dreams and desires. We were still just at the beginning.
