This painting is measuring some cultural changes since 1963 when the original painting by Thiebaud was exhibited. Girl with Ice Cream Cone. Here it is faithfully and adoringly repainted but updated. She now has an iPhone, is she taking a photo of herself in an unseen mirror or perhaps taking a photo of someone else? She has relocated from the beach to the bedroom and is wearing modern underwear with the straps provocatively loose. She is not a posing, 19 year old model and but could be someone anyone might know and so oozes even more sexuality as a consequence.
