This is a painting of a girl in a sidewalk cafe, looking cute in a pink sweater and high heels. She's seated at a charming French cafe table and enjoying the passing scene. I depicted her with loose, vigorous brushwork to match the carefree mood. I enjoy painting scenes that I want to step into.

I was inspired by the Impressionist's many cafe scenes. Renoir, Degas and Manet among others depicted fashionable people of their era enjoying life. While the styles have changed, I like the continuity that some of these pleasures remain the same.
