Artwork description:

Officially titled 'Ten trees below the sewage treatment works, Gilling Beck' it was inspired by an incident when the beck was poisoned and a lot of freshwater trout where found floating dead. The spillage was from a farm upstream of Gilling West and not the sewage treatment plant but it destroyed the river ecology in hours. The heron has barely been seen since and the ducks have moved. Early in spring the trees were still bare and the water black and threatening and somehow had a stark beauty. The threat to our environment from modern farming methods is a theme in my work. I find this interesting because farmers are also part of the solution.

Printed on 300 grm acid free paper in water based and oil based inks. The actual printed image size is 695 x 345. When I have framed this size print I have mounted them to fit a frame 850 x 500. This is an edition of only nine prints which are hand printed and as a result each print is unique. This large print will be delivered unmounted and rolled in a tube.

Materials used:

water based screen and block printing inks and oil based printing ink
