The Giant Sea Fan is a type of soft coral found throughout the oceans of the world especially in the tropics and sub-tropics. They feed by catching plankton in their polyps through a process called filter feeding. I was inspired to do this painting because of the majestic and nebulous qualities of this curious animal.
