Artwork description:

Lovely afternoon listening to the rain outside my studio.

These are new dry points printed in December 2023 onto Somerset cotton paper in my studio. They are individually hand coloured with watercolour and 22 Carat Goldleaf. The edition is variable because they’re coloured by hand.

Each piece captures my journey to learn more about and raise awareness of the decline of pollinators, caused primarily by loss of habitat, intensive farming techniques and largescale use of pesticides and herbicides. In 2020/2021 working from home with a much smaller workspace, I began printing smaller intaglio pieces using the sketches I had created in 2019 as the starting point to create drypoints and etchings of ‘Ghosts of a Bee’ series - a dead insect in a petri dish, including 22 Carat goldleaf to convey the delicacy and fragility of our pollinators, and the precious nature of their existence, finished with hints of watercolour to bring them back to life.

Variable Edition: please note that each piece is individually hand coloured so there will be slight variations in the colouring. However, rest assured that the same care and attention has been given to each piece and I like to think that make each piece unique and individual.
