" The mole " is a creature with a large, massive, fan-shaped body and a long, pointed nose. Funny and zany, this creature has a strange, poetic Tim Burton feel to it.

It is part of the Ostréïdes series, which expresses the complexity of life in its search for the most appropriate form for survival, as well as the wisdom of the mind applied to the transformation of matter.

It is made from a very special and rare wooden material: the solid wood of a wood-decomposing fungus that has long been used to heal wounds and light fires. Tinder grows on the trunks of dead or diseased trees, becoming as hard as the trees themselves as it feeds on wood cellulose.

This wood goes well with the papier-mâché surface paste that completes the sculpture, as both are made from wood cellulose.
