Original artwork description:

‘Gersemi’ is a mixed media collage/assemblage presented in a glazed, soft wood box frame. The image is 15cm x 15cm, with the framed size at 19cm x 19cm. The box depth is 3.5cm. ‘Gersemi’ is part of a series of assemblages in response to rural landscapes.
‘Gersemi’ is inspired by observations made from walks in the landscape of the Lake District in North West England. Similarly to other works in this series, ‘Gersemi’ intends to capture and raise awareness of the simple qualities in our landscapes and to the ways in which we interact with the natural world.
‘Gersemi’ combines the texture of tissue paper, canvas fabric and threads, together with a torn photograph of the Cumbrian landscape in winter. White acrylic paint has been rubbed into the surface with found twigs, sycamore seeds and a segment of conker shell arranged across the collaged surface.

Materials used:

tissue paper, canvas fabric, threads, torn photograph, white acrylic, found natural objects
