The power of the swell crashing on the gneiss rocks and outcrops below the cliffs just north of Gearrannan Blackhouse village on the Isle of Lewis set Paul off on this interpretation of the ocean colours and dynamic movement. Using palette knife spatter effects and giant brushstrokes in acrylic the composition is anchored by the distant shimmer and island outcrops in sullen dusk skies.

Materials used:

Acrylic bushstrokes, palette knife and acrylic splatters achieved with toothbrush.
