I painted this portrait of the late Gerald Ferguson when he was my studio professor at NSCAD University in 1996. Gerald was a fantastic American & Canadian painter who was indispensable to NSCAD's reputation from the 1960s through to his passing in 2009. Gerald was a sad, bitter, character who found solace and faith in his noumenal abstract art.
