Painted on a beautiful day in late summer by the banks of Gouthwaite Reservoir near Pateley Bridge in the Yorkshire Dales, making the most of the drama created by a contre jour (looking directly at the sun) view. I used acrylic inks to create an expressive underpainting on which I then applied soft pastel using energetic mark making.
