In 2012, the artist went travelling to visit relatives in Mendocino. Whilst investigating some small towns along the coast of Northern California, she came across this gas station and mechanic in a small area called Boonville. She was drawn to the car that was parked up and the bright red, yellow facade of the building.
It reminded her of the work of Edward Hopper. Deserted America shining in the bright blue cloudless sky.
Painted in oils on canvas and stretched ready to hang with a pale tray frame, with intentional distress to the wood finish. The frame was also hand made and painted by the artist
