I think this is one of my favourite papers. It’s a convenient size, just the right absorbency for this raw paper, and a thick paper. And the colors stand out brilliantly.
Hindu mystics. Another fascinating subject, also visually so. Inspired by the characters from the documentary film on the Kumbh Mela (gathering of Hindu mystics), Kings with Straw Mats, an old and unusual documentary. I want to reinterpret this colourful human display in an abstract way. I hope to do a few more paintings with this theme.
The close up pictures allow you a better feel for the texture and brush stroke of the painting. Then there’s the work in progress, me in the studio working on the painting.
