My latest pop art painting depicts a landline telephone in the shape of Garfield, the lovable and lazy orange cartoon cat. After previously painting the equally iconic burger telephone (see the final image), I couldn't resist doing the Garfield phone in the same style. The phone itself is a satisfyingly plastic orange and yellow colour, with dashes of his trademark black markings. While resting, the eyes of Garfield stay closed, but when you receive a call and answer the phone his eyes open - I've depicted the equally retro handset perched on the side.
The Garfield phone first hit stores in the early 1980s, and there's even an unusual but true story about a boatload of these phones washing up on one specific beach in Brittany, France, which continues to this day.
So whether you're a lover of the orange pop culture icon, or an admirer of retro tech, this painting is sure to brighten up any room in your house, or be an ideal gift for a fan of retro pop art.

I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Patrick Caulfield, whilst also taking cues from modern day graphic designers and illustrators. With my artwork I always aim for colourful graphic impact rather than realism.
Postage will be first class in a cardboard box, with the painting itself heavily protected and wrapped in bubble wrap. I can also do paintings to order, so get in touch if you have an idea for a personal artwork.
