Artwork description:

I took this photo during a trip to Niagara Falls. It was a real joy for someone like me who grew up in communist Poland of the 80s, with books about the wonders of North America. But down there it was nothing like the stories I read as a boy. Niagara was swarmed by tourists from both sides of the border. I was surrounded by crowds of people most likely experiencing the same awe but simultaneously disturbing one another.

In my mind this place was empty, I was facing the sublime spectacle alone. Feeling the water mist on my face, clouds cushioning my thoughts, the empty space absorbed me and I became an incarnation of the ‘Wanderer above the Sea of Fog'. I wanted to preserve this state. I stepped higher, cropped out the crowds on the edge of the fall, and focused on the gradation of water, mist, and dense clouds.

To enhance the majesty nature of the scene I have decided to print it on a much bigger format than the rest of my works.
