Original artwork description:

This is an oil painting of a winter morning blue splendid on a frozen lake in a disused Quarry in Ilston, Gower Pensinsula, South West Wales.
I was struck by the beautiful crisp clarity of the view and how it seemed to resemble Canada more than Wales. This immediately led me to think of one of my very favourite artists, Tom Thomson, who is also a Canadian artist who have often painted similar views of frozen blue water from the vantage point of a woodland, looking out through the trees.
l could imagine him painting this view also.
When I arrived home I started to paint this view in my expressionist way but with a nod to Thomson also.
