Artwork description:

I love the architectural quality of hydrangea blooms when they have dried out. I don't deadhead them, I just leave them until it snows and then they become like heads with mopcaps - the prettiest things in the winter garden. This way they have year round interest.

Within each petal the veins become more skeletal and apparent, and I like to capture that with some botanical accuracy.

This print is a mixture of multi-plate and reduction techniques, printed on Bristol Board to give the clean whiteness of the snow.

For this print I have used Japanese block vinyl as a medium. This is a purpose-made vinyl block developed as an alternative to lino. I use it when I want a lot of fine detail.

The print is titled, signed and dated, with the edition number, on the bottom of the print. Supplied mounted on a neutral coloured mounting board using archival tape, and wrapped in a cellophane envelope.

The mount will fit a standard 12 x 16 inch frame.

Materials used:

Bristol Board, and Schminke lightfast water-based inks
