What Is Friendship?

In childhood, it’s one thing.
It feels like a wondrous world that sweeps you off your feet.
Like an adventure, where you travel between worlds and discover a new one together with a friend.

I didn’t have that kind of friendship in my childhood.
So I could only dream about it.
And in those dreams, that’s exactly how it looked.
⠀
As you grow older, the feeling of friendship changes.
It might be built on shared interests or views — or not at all.
But it becomes something you experience together.
And perhaps, for me, one of the most important things in friendship is the feeling of safety — and the trust in that safety.
When you know that differences in size, strength, ability, or opportunity will never cause harm or bring pain.
