This painting is a part of the series of mini Frida Kahlo portraits, where each of the paintings is inspired by her art. I take some elements from her original paintings, adding them to the story I’m telling about her. This is the ninth painting in a series, inspired by Frida’s painting “Thinking about Death”, 1943. In the ancient Mexican sense, death means both rebirth and life.
Frida was the first person I owlized, she is also one of my favorites, she is one of the artists whose brush told stories brighter than any word could say.
- original painting (frame included)
- watercolor, ink, gouache, and 24k gold leaf on watercolor paper
- 5" × 7" unframed
- 9" x 0.7" x 11" framed
- signed on the front and back
watercolor, gouache, ink and 24k gold leaf
