A still life painting of freshly picked lemons in a silver bowl.

Painted in the same fashion as Van Eyck painted his wooden panels: starting from the traditional gesso ground, first layers painted in egg tempera (tempera grassa) and finishing with layers of oil paint. This ensures not only a particular luminosity but also a painting that will stand the test of time.
