Built in the early 1800's, I was captivated by the ornate lion providing fresh spring water in the commune of Dun-le-Palestel (Creuse, France). For a long time, this spring was the only drinkable water in the commune, and around it sprang a lemonade factory, fish tanks, laundresses and even a wheelwright''s workshop.
It is painted in an impressionist manner on Italian canvasboard (canvas attached to wooden board), and left to dry for a year before being varnished.
Oil paints (Rembrandt, Old Holland, Winsor & Newton, Gamblin, lefranc & bourgeois)
