Original artwork description:

This painting went through several transitions until I was happy with it. I was thinking about the World Wars and how precious the time that soldiers had when on leave. I wanted to convey a sense of intimacy and seclusion in which they could spend time with someone close to them, away from a world that was in turmoil. 'Freedom Days' is the outcome.

Paper collage, which is from original letters written in French during the second World War, adds interest and intrigue and compliments the French interior. Layers of oil paint first cover, then reveal glimpses of the writing and a small amount of gold leaf helps to bring the whole to life. Both brush and palette knife have been used to apply the paint, creating a gently textured surface, which I have tried to show in the photographs.

**Please note that the in-situ home interior image is NOT to scale**

The sides of the painting are left white so it can be hung as it is but also suitable for framing if you prefer.

I ship internationally using an insured, tracked and sign for service. Please note that the payment of any import duty/tax is the responsibility of the buyer.
