Lake Nakuru, Kenya. Mid-morning. The flamingos start to drift to the river mouth. Lots of them. It looks like a confusing scene but there might be an underlying order. Or pattern. My task is to capture a moment of simplification, to make sense of chaos. A hyena might do the trick.

Minutes go by. Somewhere, a baboon barks. I feel lethargy creeping up. Then, a hyena enters the scene.

Something spreads lightning fast through the throng of bathing, preening, drinking pink birds. Instinct kicks in. The flamingos run, soar, and glide into a flight formation. I photograph them riding the wind and in their lightness they are free.

This Giclee print is a colour print made on Hannemuhle photo rag 308 gsm paper which has a very smooth surface. (Giclee describes a fine art printing process that combines pigment based inks with high quality archival quality paper). My Giclee prints have an extremely wide tonal range and colour gamut.
