This portrait is my copy/interpretation of a painting, the original of which is exhibited in Tel Aviv Art Museum, by the famous Belarusian artist Chaim Soutine. The face depicted borders between expressionism and abstract art - a characteristic feature the original author is renowned for. The painting, however, is an original artwork in its own right, possessing its own meanings and significance.

The piece has lots of reds and blacks - strong colors which accentuate it in the interior. The hues have been carefully selected to convey in the portrait the sensations brought by a bouquet of roses, which in tandem with the shapes imparts the moods of the person in the painting, while the textures in the skin, hair, clothing and background instill life in him.
