I was recently asked why I became an artist.
I live and paint by 'Ordnung & Eccentricity'. The Ordnung [order], my German half, ensures that everything I do is properly planned, in minute and bureaucratic detail, and Eccentricity, my Scottish half, just wants to paint and go to the pub. Let's say, there is a certain amount of 'banter' that goes on in my head. I call it creativity (a close relative of procrastination). And, I believe, it is this absolute need to be creative at all times, which stems from my complete inability to do anything normal, be it exciting or mundane, without seeing something in it that defines me as an artist.
Or, put simply, I became an artist because I'm utterly incapable of doing anything else.
