Original artwork description:

My aim was to create a feeling of happiness and a great part of being happy for me is being free, hence the title. On completion, what I have subconsciously created looks like an illustration from a children’s book, (Perhaps, the only time of free thinking you get in life is as a child.) yet whilst creating this image I kept thinking about the time that I first left home. I can clearly remember standing on the beach thinking about my parents, who were driving back home after dropping me off. I had very mixed feelings, partly sadness for my parents, but overwhelmingly a fantastic feeling of being free to do and go anywhere I liked without criticism. Now, 50 years later, things have not changed, I still feel happy and as free as a bird.
