A drawing I made in front of Frans Hals Young Man Holding A Skull in London's National Gallery. The painting is precise yet the brushstrokes are loose and energetic - I'm hoping to make a drawing that has both of those qualities. It is a painting I've admired for thirty years and over time I've made a number of drawings to intensify the experience of looking at it.
