Original artwork of the city of Frankfurt, Germany painted on canvas and stretched on double wooden bars.
My hometown Frankfurt is one of the most fascinating cities in Germany. The contrast of modern and ancient architecture cannot be seen so clearly in any other big city of Germany. I have painted the Frankfurt many times and exhibited in a lot of galleries and public locations there. Therefore, I have a closer connection to this city than to any other.
I haven't created any new Frankfurt paintings since 2017. This is the last piece in that series.
Detailed description:
This painting displays the Frankfurt City Hall (Der Römer) in the center. The Opera house and the “Ebbelwoi Express” (a cable car that serves the traditional apple cider of Frankfurt inside) frame the City Hall.
Above the City Hall tower one of the traditional jugs (Bembel) and a typical Frankfurt glass (Geripptes.) The Commerzbank is inside the glass while the ancient cathedral joins the TV Tower (Ginnheimer Spargel) inside the “Bembel.”
A rope leads from there to the Fairground tower (Messeturm.) The highest skyscrapers of Frankfurt are displayed along the rope while the coat of arms of Frankfurt hangs from the top of the TV Tower.
