Painted from sketches, photographs and materiel gathered on visits to Pulpit Hill. As part of the Chiltern landscape Pulpit hill is typical. now completely wooded it lies along the north west edge of the hills overlooking the Vale o Aylesbury. At one time it help one of the hill forts of ancient Britons that are common in the area. Notable after bluebell season, later comes foxgloves and Pulpit Hill has many dense patches, the best in the area.
This painting is oil on board 50 x 61 cm. The style is more impressionist, with some thick layers of paint. Although depicting quite dense woodland I wanted to give the impression of the light coming through the trees and picking up and lighting up the colours of the foxgloves.
