On a recent painting holiday I painted this line of Yew trees on a particularly dank, dark day. I loved the way they stood with a slightly ominous slant on the bank where they grew. The field behind caught a full ray of sun and was transformed into a golden green strip which enhanced the more moody foreground perfectly.
