'Formations VI' is a mixed-media relief inspired by my interest in using different materials to create form and shape. The idea is to offer the audience a deeper experience through the build-up of texture and design when a variety of materials and patinas are used.
Created on a wood panel using layers of acrylic gesso upon which forms of clay have been added, this piece is unique with intricacy. Stainless steel wire screening has been strategically placed to enhance the mixed-media design of the work. Layers of gold, red oxide, and magenta form the base of the patina. A final stippling of warm white and gold completes the work resulting in exquisite points of interest.
The depth of the artwork is 2 inches (1.25 inches wood panel + 0.75 inches at the highest part of the mixed media formation).
This work is ready to hang with a wire attached and is signed on the bottom edge. 'Formations VI' works beautifully on a light or a dark wall and is truly a statement piece!
Thank you for your interest in my work!
