This artwork is a part of Twig Lips' series Shadow Work. Shadow Work takes a deeper look into Twig Lips’ shadow self, navigating and healing the repressed emotions and unacknowledged desires in her psyche.
"Shadow work” is the process of bringing those neglected aspects of the soul into conscious awareness and nurturing them to let them go.
They are a real part of her and everyone else and deserve to be seen, healed, and loved. As uncomfortable as it can be to deal with past trauma, the outcome of doing the work can lead to a sense of inner peace and deep self-awareness.
The cloaked figures in Twig Lips' paintings are called the Shadow Figures, they are a physical manifestation of the soul.
