Original artwork description:

This setting is a farmhouse kitchen, with the rare feature of the old servants' bells. Once, these bells all connected via thin wires and a complicated series of pulleys and guides to various bell pulls around the grander part of the house. Each bell is pitched slightly differently, so presumably the experienced servant would know exactly which room was calling, even without looking. Now, none of the wires exist, and the routes of those wires through walls and floors is lost. But still, it makes an interesting setting; I hung this dress shirt and blue top from the window architrave, and closing the shutters to give a more graphic composition. I have applied the paint in a thicker than usual style in response to the rough uneven plaster of the walls.
This painting is sold with a simple black wooden frame, with the front edge picked out in silver paint. The overall size including frame is: 79 x 55 x 5cm
