About the artist:
Alanna Eakin (b.1988) is an emerging British painter currently living and working in London. She graduated in 2010 with a BA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martin’s London. Alanna has shown work in several exhibitions and art fairs in London and nationwide. Her work is constantly evolving.
Alanna's current work is concerned with themes of nature, escapism, solitude and fairy tales. She has a particular interest in translating dreamlike scenarios onto the canvas in a whimsical way often set in a desolate landscape. Here she allows the viewer to experience inner peace and contentment placing themselves within the painting, creating their own story. Something she is avidly exploring at the moment.
The works are planned out in terms of colour and composition. Colour pays a particularly important part, each palette must be cohesive. The paintings are made up of layers materials with particular attention paid to light, shadow and abstract mark-making. However due to the abstract nature each piece is subject to alterations throughout the process. The artist allows for new eventualities and finds this exciting. Imagination, memory and collected imagery allow her to translate her objective onto the surface playing with colour, light and dimensions. The later stages of the painting are carefully considered and composed in fine detail
