Original artwork description:

A clump of wild birches on the Ashdown Forest, East Sussex UK. The dry grasses turn a deep vibrant ochre colour in Autumn, providing a stunning backdrop for the trees and shrubs. I have used charcoal, oil sticks and oil paints to give the trees an energetic form against the softness of the grasses and trees beyond. The painting has a small shadow gap between canvas and painted wood frame to enhance the work.
