"Forest of Rainbows" is informed by some lovely woods near my home. Golden light plays through beautiful leaves creating dappled shadows and sunlight. This is the most beautiful time of year in the woods the colours being at their most vibrant. There is a mood of peace and tranquillity and a journey to a harmonious forest bathing place.

An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on deep edged canvas. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. I paint some base layers with a brush and then create numerous marks by building layers with a palette knife, working with impasto techniques. The effect is of optical mixing and creates a contemporary painting, which lies somewhere between abstraction and realism. The painting continues round the sides, a frame is not needed and it is ready to hang.
