Forest Fresh - an original green pine cone painting in acrylic gouache.

Dimensions 18cm wide x 22cm high.

Painted on 100% cotton Two Rivers handmade 140lbs cold pressed paper from Somerset, England.

I gave the paper a generous coat of th ebeautiful Micheal Harding Non-absorbent ground in white and this adds to the longevity and sensuousness of the piece where brushstrokes are visible along the surface.

This single study of a delightfully fresh pine cone is done in minimal tones on a delicate complementary shell pink. These two colours are the colours of the heart chakra - green being the upper heart and pink being the lower.

PLEASE NOTE - there is a tiny 4mm rise in the paper at top left. This is part of the paper - each sheet handmade - so imperfections exist. You can see it in the photos and I took a close up ok.

Let this quiet and authentic original pine cone resonate with you as you go about your work - the paper is so thick and rigid that you could simply lean it aginst a wall or attach a lightweight fixing and hook it up somewhere.

I wanted to express the inward breath I took as I encountered this pine cone in all its simple glory. A marvel of nature's spirals with each bract and scale rendered slowly and individually in a suitable tone of delicate green.

For the nature lover or the rambler this may be a lovely piece.
