Forbearance- Withholding response to provocation.
As always with my works, the title is meant to hold the meaning of this painting in one elegant word. There is a very special woman in my life who has influenced my art in many ways. But what she does not know is that her beauty and her strength is something which I try to secretly represent in my work. I watch her day in and day out dealing with the world around in a very elegant and sophisticated manner. No matter how hard the situation, she digs deep and summons a smile. She shrugs off the constant pressure around her, she pushes off her own feelings to care for others. She says "we all have our baggage", but I wish that everyone was just as elegant with theirs as she is with hers. What she represents to me is truly indescribable, but what her passion shows is the power of will and the beauty of a caring soul. This beauty and journey is hidden behind every great woman. What may seem as a stress free person or one without flaws, simply has done a magnificent job of bottling them down.
That is the the subjective connection that I am able to have with this piece, and I truly believe that we all have this one person in our lives who deserves recognition for everything that they do and everything that they fight deep down inside. What I want this piece to represent is strength. The strength to be above the rest and to go the extra mile for others. The decaying black layers and crumpled textured bronze background are meant to represent this struggle. While the image is used to represent the elegance throughout the struggle.
The background to this piece has a iredecent quality while the oil contrasts the image with a matte effect. This combination insures that the piece has life like charecteristics and comes alive with different light exposure
Bronze acrylic pigment, Grumbacher Oil paint
