Original artwork description:

This painting uses the mineral Bideford Black, a mineral with a variety of uses in the past from paint to mascara. The mineral has been used to create a painting inspired by a night scene as seen from being sat on a hill overlooking an area of Somerset and replicating what was seen and experienced in that moment.

Through collected material and water the painting explores the use of the mineral and its transportation from one area to another, carried on liquid, placing tone and layering through a process of re-creation.

Materials used:

Bideford Black, Seawater, Rainwater, Postcard, Greyboard, Varnish.
