I love the magic surrounding the hare. I've been lucky enough to see them a couple of times in the wild and try to capture the magic I felt when I saw them. I chose the background colours and pattern to specifically imitate the folk art often seen on canal boats. The idea was to merge the magic of wildlife and folk art together.
I start the canvas with a rough pencil sketch and then I add the coloured paper before building up the layers with acrylic paint. The last thing I add are the embellishments of material and glitter to pick out or highlight certain areas.
