In the beginning of January with typical British weather I made a trip to Manchester through the Peak District. The views were very dramatic with heavy gray clouds, the mountains in the distance disappearing in the fog and the moors a lovely vivid brown. I took some quick photos for reference and inspiration for new paintings like this one.
