When you think of migrating birds you generally see geese in your mind, but the other month I was lucky enough to spot a flock of migrating swans. They white feathers reflected the sun and created a breathtaking contrast. I had to paint it, so I created this work from a mixture of photographic sources and imagination. I wanted to shape them in a really strong composition and built a canvas stretcher to emphasis their shape.
Painted with artist quality oils on primed cotton canvas and a pine hand built stretcher.
