Flying Dream captures the surreal feeling of drifting between waking life and dreams, inspired by my experience of REM intrusion. Every brushstroke reflects the vivid, layered visuals I see as my brain slips into dream states while awake. (See bio for explanation of condition)_x000D_ _x000D_ The upward motion of the figure’s hair and the swirling, fiery colors represent the strange, weightless pull of these moments. The calm expression contrasts with the chaotic background, showing the tension between serenity and disorientation. This painting brings to life the beauty and strangeness of living in two worlds at once. I’m a London-based artist, and my work often reflects vivid and surreal imagery inspired by my unique experience with REM intrusion—a condition where dream-like visions can appear while I’m awake. My paintings explore the boundary between waking reality and the dream world, using layered compositions to create a sense of depth and movement.
