Expressive painting with seagulls over the waving sea.
A painting from Cycle Sea.
The paintings from this cycle (2007 – 2011) are the end result of a memorizing technique. I tried to include as many senses as possible in the process of memorizing - not only my sight but also the smell, sound and touch - so each one of the paintings is only a piece, a point of view or memorized experience.
While working on these paintings I have been mostly interested in the movement and undulation. Sea being such a dynamic force, a unit of innumerable droplets, gives you the need to understand its turns and shadows, to feel its flow, if you want to somehow capture its movement. That is why my painting has required a lot of action by adding as well as drizzling, spilling and taking away color, often using great amounts of water and numerous different techniques.
