Flowing with life is healing. This is the first of my new Healing Series. Inspired by aboriginal art and Japanese drawing combined with soft martial arts (YoQi-Do) this piece is about flowing like water and move into acceptance and self-knowledge.
2024 HEALING Series
Once the tower has crumbled, we can either crumble with it or rebuild something else.
Niwan Yod, HeArtist, started her professional career in 2007. Her large-size portraiture work has gained international recognition as the “Painter of Soul” due to the liveliness and realness of her character’s eyes.
In her 2024 Healing series Niwan explores minimalistic portraiture in an attempt to capture the gist of the human spirit. The creator explores more of her ongoing passion for the wisdom of the line, drawing her inspiration from Japanese art. Using cache techniques, the artist begins with a colorful and symbolic backdrop without planning a specific character beforehand. She then creates the portrait directly on the canvas studying the main and secondary lines of expression. She only allows for the most essential lines until something comes to life like an unforeseen state that seems to match its expressive background. Niwan’s portraiture eradicates the boundary of traditional representation with her use of a plethora of effect-generating products. Niwan creates series to continue to deepen her aesthetic research with the use of layered and multi potential techniques in a quest to capture the mystical essence of art.
