This small portrait was painted from life during a quick live model session with my fellow Painted Ladies.

While the model's outward classical beauty was evident and pleasing, I was more drawn to her kind accepting smile--almost a smirk, as if she knew something I didn't. I have identified that smirk in people who are very confident in who they are, people who are almost always amused about something or other. She kept her eyes very relaxed and almost closed, butterfly eyelashes blinking slowly from time to time. I chose to leave the painting unfinished, providing a glimpse of freshness that was the model, with flowers in her hair. ~Tali
