The landscape of the Highlands of Iceland is predominantly a barren one. The rocky and uneven 35 road winds its way across the vast plains. This photograph shows small colourful clumps of flowers in amongst the rocks and gravel. In the distance is the Langjökull glacier and a small sliver of the lake Hvítárvatn can be seen. This has an area of 30km which might put some sense of scale on this scene.
