Original artwork description:

Rather than growing in a garden or arranged in a vase, the flowers in this non-traditional "fantasy" composition emerge from a background of variegated colors and textured brushstrokes. Red, the theme color of the composition, is highlighted in the large Dahlia flower head at the top left. The bright magenta Stargazer lilies also contain accents of the deep red color. Rose red maple leaves and orange-red oak leaves are woven through the composition. Pale yellow sunflowers with russet-red accents on their petals balance the top right and bottom left of the piece. A final accent is provided by the midnight purple/indigo dahlia and red and yellow lantana blossoms above the lilies.

I painted each leaf and flower from life, under natural light, in my home studio in Minneapolis.

This stretched canvas has painted sides, and requires no frame.

It may be framed if desired, as the 3/4" deep stretcher bars will fit into many standard
frame moldings.
