Original artwork description:

Having originally trained as a constructed textile designer, I still love texture and pattern and am drawn to frescoes and layers of old, peeling wallpaper. I've tried to recreate the distressed, textural effects by applying a rough layer of gesso to the canvas, then painting imagined flowers in translucent oils. Once dry, I sanded the paints back to expose areas of the textured canvas below to evoke a long forgotten fresco. The painting is on canvas and is ready to hang.
