Original artwork description:

This is another example of my more sombre autumn/winter landscapes focusing on the earthy brown colours and showing that they, too, have a warmth. The colours remain warm, tinged with the pink of the evening sky, so that even flooded fields in winter have a slightly idyllic mood. After all, in springtime, the fields will dry out and be fertile for another harvest season. The idyllic impression is carried through by the little cottage with the inviting light in the window. This is typical of the cosy little cottages in Zeeland, Netherlands and I am lucky to have a studio in one rather like it! So, I am often in that region and not just in summer and I have tried to capture the mood of Zeeland in winter as I see it.

"Flooded Fields" was painted on 300g rough Arches watercolour paper using Windsor and Newton watercolour paints and it comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.

Materials used:

300g rough Arches watercolour paper, Windsor and Newton watercolour paints
